I bought this book out of curiosity as, for a few years in the early 1960s, I too lived over a corner shop in Caversham It brought back memories of ice creams and crisps always available after school; of Huntley and Palmers broken biscuits sold by the pound from huge tins; and mum making sure she had plenty of pies and sausage rolls
