Okay I admit 'Book of the Dead' sent me into a 'not exactly classic literature' binge And the next I picked up was this by an author I had read before Although it is not the greatest literature in the world Tessaro writes with undeniable charm there is something cheerfully old fashioned about her worlds even when they are distinctly modern This book about a good looking good hearted guy hired to be a professional flirt and the people aroun

Read The Flirt

Er ahead of him However the life of a Flirt is a curiously lonely calling and there’s one absolute rule his new employer has he must remain single Only how can he live without the delicious Leticia VaneSurely there’s nothing wrong with using a few of his newly polished romantic skills on the side to uietly seduce the woman he loves is thereAs clueless as he is handsome Hughie gamely decides to throw his already complicated life into utter chaos and discovers exactly why a Flirt’s professional and personal life should never mix . The Flirt by Kathleen Tessaro is one of the most uniue and original stories I ve ever read Tessaro s ability to play with characters and roundabout relationsconnections is top notch In creating a world through the profession of the Flirt a man who is paid to flirt with women to build up or dismantle whatever fantasy they wish to possess Tessaro introduces the reader to a ray of brightly shaded characters that struggle with the personal concerns of loneliness lovelessness heartbrokenness and social confusions In trying to find meaning to their predicaments characters such as Hughie Olivia Leticia Henry Rose Flick and the many others navigates the streets of London in search consciously or subconsciously of whatever they may or may not find Some eventually find peace and comfort what they finally discoveruncover though other characters like Arnaud and Valentine are not so lucky In being original and uniue Tessaro faces some shortcomings In introducing so many characters some characters do not add any depth or purpose to their supporting role like Sam and Ricki What is their purpose Tessaro alludes to kindling between Sam and Leticia that goes no where And other than becoming Olivia s lover after Olivia discovers she s a lesbian what s the point of having Ricki around And BTW Olivia and Ricki s love affair was so predictable Seen it a hundred pages away And there are red herrings all over the book for no reason How did Leticia become involved in the ploy against Olivia at the lingerie shop That came out of nowhere and led to nowhere Another issue is that the book could have been one hundred pages shorter cutting out a lot of the filler sub plots the book is flooded with But all in all I really enjoyed The Flirt and it was a great introduction to Kathleen Tessaro I m interested in reading her other works
